Non-surgical fat reduction in the form of injection lipolysis – or as it is often called in Germany “Fett weg Spritze” (“fat away syringe”) – conveniently causes fat tissues in the body to simply melt away.
In the past, anyone who wanted to get rid of a double chin would require a liposuction, a rather hefty intervention causing trauma to the body. Even worse, a turkey neck or hanging jowls would require a surgical facelift, with all the added risk and the personal downtime. A strict personal diet and exercise would seem as low risk alternatives to medical intervention. But the truth is: Fat in the chin and the neck areas are often stubborn and will survive even the toughest gym sessions. Principle reason being that numerous factors influence fat storage in these areas, from genetics to gravity, the aging process in general and lust but not least the eating habits. We have control over a few of them, but not all. And sometimes not those that make a difference.
In injection lipolysis, the active ingredient is injected directly into the fatty tissue. Once injected, it breaks down and absorbs dietary fat. Using very fine needles the proecure is near painless. The melting effect usually becomes visible 10-14 days after treatment. Through the injections, the physician sets an artificial inflammation, which causes an additional tightening of the skin. In order to achieve an optimal result, up to 4 treatment sessions are necessary in most cases. You should expect costs of 200 Euro or more per session.
The procedure can be used in many areas of the body. In the face, injection lipolysis is suitable for double chins and excess fat deposits in cheeks and nasolabial wrinkled hills. On the body core, it can help to remove belly fat and love handles. Fat deposits on the upper arms or back can also be treated very well. If applied more superficially to outer tissue layers, injection lipolysis also proved an effective remedy against cellulite.
Injection lipolysis is a simple and straightforward therapy. The injections themselves take only 20-30 minutes. Afterwards, patients can experience some swelling in the treated areas, sometimes also a light burning. My recommendation to my Munich fat reduction patients is therefore to allow for a same-day time off to relax and recover. Technically speaking though, injection lipolysis is a procedure that requires no downtime.
