BOTOX (or botulinumtoxin A as it is properly called) is the most popular non surgical cosmetic treatment in the world. In 2016 alone, nearly 5 million people all over the globe asked for this simple yet remarkable and very versile treatment. And the trend continues to go up. Whilst it is true that BOTOX is a poison (and in its natural form actually one of the strongest poisons in the world), it has an impeccable safety record when applied by trained and experienced medical professionals. Also, the modern BOTOX products available on the market today would have to be massively overdosed to be dangerous for one’s health or even life.
How does BOTOX work? Many lines and wrinkles in our face are created by our own expressions, constantly contracting muscles to smile, laugh or look surprised or angry. What BOTOX does is to (partially) inhibit muscles from contracting. It relaxes the muscles beneath the skin, so that their pulling and pushing forces do no longer fully impact the skin layer above. It takes anatomical expertise and practical experience, however, to avoid overdosing and targetting the wrong muscles, thereby potentially impairing our ability to make facial expressions (the much dreaded “botox face”). When applied by experts, the exact muscles responsible for wrinkles in the forehead or between the brows will be relaxed in the exact dose, all without hindering our ability to be as expressive as ever.
At LIPS and SKIN Aesthetic Medicine, I am proud to provide our Munich BOTOX patients with a tasteful, effective approach to cosmetic botulinum therapy. I strive to provide my patients with the best and most diligent BOTOX treatment in Munich and to that end take ample time to analyze your facial anatomy and to set doses carefully. It is my conviction that BOTOX should be used to highlight your natural beauty, not to create an artificial, unsympathetic expression.
In recent years, several additional applications for BOTOX have been developed, such as BOTOX against hyperhidrosis (sweating), Botox against migraine pain or Botox against teeth grinding (bruxism). At LIPS and SKIN, I am happy to offer our Munich BOTOX patients all these procedures. I also apply BOTOX in a new injection technique called “micro botox” that targets the skin and not the underlying muscles. Micro botox works great against large pores and oliy skin.
